Makerere University Student Succumbs to Injuries After Bwaise Road Crash

Kampala, Uganda — A Makerere University student has died from injuries sustained in a road crash that occurred on Tuesday evening at Bwaise Roundabout in Kampala.

The crash happened when a taxi registration number UAZ 911F reportedly failed to brake and rammed into a boda boda motorcycle, killing the rider on the spot and leaving the passenger critically injured.

The passenger, identified as Muhammad Isa, a second-year student of Cytotechnology at Makerere University, succumbed to his injuries on Friday evening.

Makerere University Guild President, Ssentamu Churchill James, expressed deep sorrow over the incident and called for increased road safety vigilance among public service vehicle (PSV) drivers.

“We appeal to taxi drivers and all road users to routinely service their vehicles and drive responsibly to protect the lives of all Ugandans,” Ssentamu said.

Police have since launched an investigation into the cause of the crash.
