URA Calls on Owners to Collect Overstayed Goods at Mombasa and Naivasha Warehouses

Uganda Revenue Authority has issued a public notice directing owners of goods held in the customs warehouse at Naivasha and at Mombasa Port to clear their cargo within 30 days or risk auction.

URA says the goods, described as un-customed, will be disposed of through an automated public auction if they remain uncleared, with online viewing set for August 31 to September 5, 2026 and bidding from September 7 to 12, 2026.

Assistant Commissioner for Public and Corporate Affairs Robert Kalumba said the notice is in line with Section 42(1) of the East African Community Customs Management Act, 2004, and urged importers to settle taxes, fees, penalties and charges immediately.

URA added that successful bidders will pay applicable registration fees, while importers whose goods are auctioned may apply for any remaining proceeds within one year of the sale.
